To a large extent, just creating space for marginalized people to come skate together is a form of mutual aid, but PANSY also carries out this mission in the form of donation drives, skate lessons and forming safe discussion spaces.

QUELLING THE BULLSHIT

More than simply a bi-annual print magazine, Quell is a full on media company that includes a podcast and event production. One element that people outside of media might not fully realize is that it takes a lot of strength and a thick skin to put your voice out there. WHAT THE QUELL? ??

We were so excited when we heard Quell was holding a day-long series of events last February in partnership with Leo Baker’s NYC Skate Project and sponsored by Nike SB. NYC Skate Project was started by Leo to provide programming for gender non-conforming, trans folx, non-binary folx, and CIS women who skate. We were able to send our MOST EXCELLENT east coast correspondent and resident beginner skater Maya Haptas out to the event and she gave us a run-down of what it’s like to attend.
