FELINE FINE! EBELING EDIT UP AT THRASHER

Let’s say, just for shits and gigs, that Kristin Ebeling went to prison. If there was a curb to skate, she’d probably be perfectly happy locked up. She’d be endlessly entertained learning every curb cut known to (wo)man. And when’s she wasn’t skating, she would be the busiest person in the building. She’d probably start a non-profit to help the other prisoners find legal aid, write a memoir and start knitting her own prison ponchos (and then teach the other inmates how to do it.)

NOLA SKATERS CIRCLE UP TO SUPPORT THE BAYOU!

Humidity Skate Shop is a magical place, and Phil and his crew have been committed to giving back to the skate community and beyond for a long time. Crescent Skate Krewe was looking for a way to collaborate with Humidity, and just like that, Amy Caron’s visit provided a great excuse to throw an event where we could raise money for our bayou neighbors and get the non-traditional and queer skateboarders socializing with the traditional skate community.

This gave me the confidence to attend a Display Only sesh where I met Ashley, the missing piece to the Board 2 Tears puzzle. That was her first meetup. Kismet.

CHANNEL STREET GOT THE KEY BACK!

This means the SPSA is the official tenant of Channel Street Skatepark. The organization signed a 20-year lease with the City of LA General Services Department, with options to renew.

The next step necessary to reopen the park is to fix, repair, and rebuild what was demolished. The fences and the barriers in the bowls will remain initially, allowing room for a speedy build, estimated at 3-4 months.

East Coast Mag Drop at Switch and Signal!

Switch & Signal Skatepark in Pittsburgh (home to Assistant Editor Maya Haptas) hosted a special Women & Trans session to celebrate the release of BIGFOOT’s first issue.  Since we still wear masks indoors at the park we had some jalapeños for skaters to take home and keep it spicy.
